Dolomite develops multi-layer microfluid chips
Jaiyant Cavale | Aug 5 2008

Microfluidics, also known as ‘lab on a chip’ helps small-scale industries and pharmaceutical companies to conduct research in the field of drug discovery and development. The world leader of microfluids, Dolomite recently revealed that they have developed and fabricated large-scale multi-layer microfluidic devices and have invited international companies who would be interested in collaborating further. The technology allows small-scale fluid control and analysis. Complex chemical management, analysis management etc are interfaced with electronic and optical detection systems on a microfluidic chip. The 3-layer chip, which they have developed, may improve the performance of existing Dolomite ‘droplet generation’ chip and the ‘reactor’ chips. The only problem with these multi-layer chips is that the glass could develop markings during processing. The company has taken this as a challenge and continues to produce exciting new products in microfluids. Dolomite’s versatile technology can speedup processes by increasing the number of processes on a chip and do away with traditional batch chemistry processes.
